The Hot Spot has created a welcoming space to strengthen your body and restore your spirit since 2006. Enjoy a wide variety of hot yoga and Pilates classes to sweat, sculpt and simply slow down. This is your place and space to move and breathe with purpose, leaving you feeling fully relaxed and completely transformed.

For us, it’s not just about the practice – it’s the people. Our teachers and staff have been sharing our passion for wellbeing for over 20 years.  Whether it’s your very first class or you have been practising for years, here at The Hot Spot we provide a supportive and friendly environment to connect with yourself and others.

Studio Etiquette

Your mindfulness helps keep our studio a welcoming environment for all

To ensure the best possible experience for all students, we ask that you follow these simple guidelines when attending any of our classes. Thank you in advance and have a great class!

The yoga studio is a silent space, so please – no talking.

We know this isn’t always easy, especially if you have come with a friend. If you want to chat please do so in reception. Please focus on your personal space and be mindful and respectful of others around you during class.

Mobile phones must be switched off at all times.

Phones ringing can really break the energy of a hot yoga class so please switch off if you’re bringing your phone into the yoga studio.

Late arrivals will not be admitted once class has started.

Unfortunately London transport doesn't always work in our favour (or finding the perfect parking space!). Please note that late arrivals WILL NOT be admitted to class as disruption is distracting. We uphold this rule to offer the best possible class experience for everyone.

Please follow the teacher’s instructions during class

Teachers are there to help, guide and assist you as much as possible so you can receive the most benefit from each and every yoga class. If you need to discuss a modification or medical condition, we recommend doing so with the instructor before class. Please refrain from doing postures or stretches which aren't part of the series.

Place your small valuables in the spaces provided

There are small shelving spaces at the back of the studio to place (switched off! :) mobiles, keys and wallets.

Please wear a form of suitable clothing

Shoes must be left in reception and we recommend that students practise with bare feet. Fitted clothing is best due to the bending and stretching required in the postures with attention to modesty most appreciated.

Be prepared

Go through your check list: a towel for your mat, enough water, a tissue, a trip to the loo, phone switched off (!).  All of these things should be attended to before – not during – class.

FAQs

Everything you need to know before you step on the mat

Whether you're brand new to yoga or just new to our studio, we’ve put together answers to the most common questions to help you feel prepared, confident, and excited for your practice.

I'm new to your yoga studio, what do I need to know?

All new yoga students start on our Intro Offer of 14 consecutive days for £56. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before your first yoga class, even if you have booked online. Please read our FAQs and of course if you have any questions do email us.

Why is the yoga studio heated?

The yoga studio is kept at approximately 40 degrees Celsius (105F) and 45% humidity. The heat allows your body to stretch safely into the postures in a supportive environment. The combined heat and humidity also promotes sweating, which in turn flushes toxins from the body.

Do I have to stay for the full class?

We strongly recommend that you stay in the room for the full time every class! This is really important as the sequence is performed in a specific way to work every part of your body and we want to make sure you get the full workout. Pace yourself and you will do just fine!

Will it keep me fit and can I lose weight through regular practise?

Absolutely, that’s why so many people come back for more!  The postures combine strength, flexibility and balance to give you a total body workout. As with other forms of cardiovascular exercise, regular practise will also aid weight loss.

Can I practise when I'm pregnant?

If you choose to practise during pregnancy, we suggest only doing so if you have had a strong, consistent practice for a year or more prior to becoming pregnant. Even then, like any other form of exercise when you're pregnant, we don't encourage class until after your first trimester. Please select a yoga class whose teacher has been trained in the pregnancy yoga series. Also, arrive a few minutes early to discuss modifications with the teacher before class.

How long do the yoga classes last?

Each yoga class lasts either 60, 75, or 90 minutes. All yoga classes are suitable for absolute beginners and more advanced students alike, so just make sure you take your first few yoga classes nice and easy and you will start enjoying all the amazing benefits this wonderful yoga has to offer in no time at all.

Each pilates class lasts either 45 or 60 minutes.

How much water do I need to drink?

You are going to sweat a lot so it’s important to keep the water flowing. We recommend you drink half a litre of water an hour before class - enough to keep you hydrated during class but not so much that you feel bloated during the postures. In the yoga class itself, after the initial warm-up postures, you can sip water between postures whenever you need to. After class, it’s also really important to get those lost electrolytes back into your system as well. We sell a variety of isotonic tablets and sachets at our reception as well as refreshing coconut water which is a fantastic and completely natural isotonic drink.

Should I eat before my yoga class?

Not directly before class. It is recommended that you eat no heavy food for 1-3 hours before class as all the compression postures aren’t much fun while your body’s still digesting! If you're running on empty, for a quick slow-release fix have a small handful of almonds or a banana. We also sell a variety of protein snacks at reception - a few bites should see you through class.

What should I wear?

Avoid loose clothing. Women normally wear sports/yoga tops and fitted shorts or leggings. Men usually wear shorts with an optional t shirt or sports top. Please do not wear underwear as outerwear and always be decently covered and remember: white clothing when wet reveals all!

What do I need for my yoga class?

  • Towels x 2 (1 for class and 1 to shower).
  • Make sure your towel for class is a bath sized towel, as this will need to be placed on your yoga mat (a hand sized towel is too small).
  • Bottle of water (1 litre)
  • Yoga mats are provided.
  • We rent towels and sell water. There are shelves within the studio for you to safely store your small valuables.
  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR MOBILE PHONE IS SWITCHED OFF!!

What is the minimum age I can practise yoga?

We require our youngest yogis to be 16 years of age or older. We also ask that when you register you do so with a parent or guardian.
