Hot Spot 60 (Bikram Yoga 60 minutes)
Melissa’s yoga journey began in 2006 when she started practising at the Fulham Hot Bikram Yoga studio shortly after it first opened. She made the decision to attend Bikram Yoga teacher training in 2010, putting her on the path to having her own studio - something she always wanted to do. That dream became a reality when at the end of 2014 her journey came full circle and she purchased the former Fulham HBY studio. Reflecting on this she says, ‘the Confucius quote, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”, sums up how I feel – how we all feel – about the work we are so lucky do. I am truly blessed.'
Melissa’s teaching style: relaxed and reassuring
Karen gained her Bikram Yoga teaching certificate in 2011. She was originally drawn to this challenging yoga practice due to the immediate relief for her chronic lower back pain. Karen's philosophy is, 'To know yoga, is to know peace…no yoga, no peace.'
FYI: Karen is also trained in the Bikram pregnancy series, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow yoga.
Karen’s teaching style: dynamic, compassionate and fun
Prior to undertaking teacher training in 2013, Harry ran a bath tub restoration business which was pretty back breaking work at times - he feels teaching and practising Bikram Yoga is the perfect antidote to 15 years of spine abuse! Harry loves the immense sense of well-being that regular practise brings.
Harry’s teaching style: mellow yet firm
Jennie previously worked in investment banking and was constantly on the look-out for activities and ways to help her relax, unwind and re-energise. The moment she walked into the hot room in 2007 she knew she'd found what she was looking for. Jennie loves the mental, physical and emotional challenges she faces in class combined with the amazing sense of peace and calm afterwards. Jennie completed her Bikram Yoga teacher training in 2013.
FYI: Jennie is additionally trained in Thai Yin Yoga.
Jennie’s teaching style: strong, motivating and honest
Mel's yoga path started 13 years ago when she wanted to help her father recover from a stroke. In 2009, Mel returned to the ashram in India she visited during earlier travels and got her diploma in Yogic Studies. Upon returning to London, she discovered Bikram Yoga and immediately fell in love with the heat. Mel attended teacher training in 2011 and has been teaching full-time ever since.
FYI: Mel is also a qualified Forrest Yoga instructor.
Mel’s teaching style: loving, warm and positive
